Nordic Cat Clubs of WCF WCF-föreningarna i Norden

From January 1st, 2010, a new era starts for the former independent cat clubs in Sweden and Norway. During 45 years we have been outside all federations. Now all clubs have joined World Cat Federation, WCF, situated in Germany. WCF is organizing about 540 clubs all over the world. WCF is a member of World Cat Congress, WCC, which has federation members in the whole world.

Clubs in WCF

In WCF there are three types of clubs. A club can apply to become a full member club of WCF. A full member club must have at least 100 members and can after approval from The General Assembly meeting become worthy to vote at GA-meetings. Until approval the club is under patronage of another full member club.

If a club does not have 100 members, it can continue to be a patronage club. A patronage club does not have the right to vote at the GA-meeting.

The third type of club is a sub-club. This club is under a full member club, mother club. The sub-clubs have their own activities as everyone else, but shows must be arranged under supervision of the mother club.

A WCF-club, no matter if it is a full member club, patronage club or sub-club, decides independently over their own activities, arrange meetings, do their own club magazine, have their own website, issue pedigrees and so on.

Sveriges Nya Raskattförening

SNRF is the oldest of the cat clubs outside FIFe in Scandinavia that has joined World Cat Federation, WCF, as a coming full member club. SNRF co-operates with all different federations and independent cat clubs all over the world.

SNRF promotes good friendship in an animal friendly spirit

SNRF arranges club meetings where we discuss topics like genetics, healthcare, fur care, breeder information, steward education, and so on.

SNRF arranges at least two international two day shows every year. We invite judges from all over the world to get a variation in the judging of the cats. Members of SNRF participate in the work around the shows. That strengthens the cohesion in the club.

SNRF gives out information through our club magazine, Mästerkatten, four times per year and through our website, www.snrf.ofg.

SNRF works for good cat stance and prevent animal cruelty

Our society has during decades radically changed. The cat is not so often used as a farm animal, but is more and more appreciated as a pet. It has become a wonderful companion for many lonely people in the modern world. For children it is a faithful friend and it is our obligation to take care and nurse our friend the best way we can. SNRF works to increase the status of the cat as a pet and shape opinion against poor cat stance. We do this through letters to the press, information at cat shows and financial contribution to castration of domestic cats. SNRF thinks:

*that all cats, no matter pedigree, have the right to good care, good food, regular veterinary checks and a loving home,

*that domestic pets are not allowed to breed and get kittens. There are too many non-wanted cats!

*that you keep cats in urban areas inside or on a leash. No other animals are allowed to run free!

SNRF issues pedigrees for breeding cats and works for a healthy cat breeding

You can turn to us if you want help in questions regarding breeding and registration of pedigree cats. Experienced breeder can help you in choosing the right breeding animal. From our Pedigree Registrar you can get information about how to register your cat, how to get a Cattery Name, and so on.

From our experienced members you can get information about pros and cons with different breeds, how to care for them, temperament and how to get in touch with breeders of that special kind. You can also get help in questions regarding buying and selling of pedigree cats.

Cat shows

SNRF arranges cat shows according to WCF-rules and national appendix. WCF has rules regarding judges' education and keeps a register over member judges.

In World Cat Congress where World Cat Federation is a member, they have Open Doors.  That means that everyone participating in a cat show, no matter which federation they belong to, are welcome to show their cats on a WCF-show. Entryform for WCF Shows in Sweden

Cattery names

WCF has a central Cattery name register. Full member clubs send in their own and their sub-clubs cattery name applications to this register for approval.

Pedigree

WCF has no central pedigree register. Each full member club makes the rules and takes care of their own register. The pedigrees from the sub-clubs are handled by the mother clubs pedigree registrar.

WCF-clubs in Scandinavia

The Scandinavian WCF-clubs will yearly have joint meetings to agree on how the shows and pedigrees in Scandinavia are done. There is a common website where you can find show schedule and documents that are the same for all the WCF-clubs in Scandinavia.
